The George and Pringle Snyder Memorial Scholarship
George Henry Snyder, Sr.
Born in Scranton, PA on June 3rd, 1927 and passed away June 15, 2001 at the age of 74.
George was Navy veteran of World War ll and helped rebuild war-torn Pearl Harbor.
After WWll George used the G.I. Bill to obtain his pilot’s licenses and soon became a regular at the Scranton Airway’s operation at the Schultzville Airport. He learned to fly there and as he gained pilot time and experience, he would then help others learn the art of aviation.Â
He also worked for Bell Telephone Company while pursuing his love of aviation. Upon his retirement from Bell, he became a full-time corporate pilot operating various aircraft including the MU-2 and King Air 200/350. Â
Pringle Elizabeth Snyder
Born in Clarks Summit, PA on March 5th, 1932 and passed away September 9, 2010 at the age of 78.
She met her future husband at the Scranton Municipal Airport in Schultzville, PA where she was taking flying lessons and enjoying a love of aviation passed down from her mother, uncle, and cousin.Â
Pringle soloed on her 16th birthday in a Piper Tri-Pacer, and obtained her Private Pilot’s license at the Schultzville airport. She was a pioneer for women in aviation. Her achievements are remarkable and unique for a young woman in the 1940’s. Â

Do include descriptions of your aviation-related activities, with emphasis on what means the most to you. Discuss how you would use the scholarship to attain your career goals. What future employment do you plan to pursue? Do you have any extracurricular activities, hobbies, and interests? Personal letter should be limited to one page.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Please upload at least two letters of recommendation from people who know you well, excluding relatives. Letters from teachers or employers are preferred.
